We loved seeing One Direction perform at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, but there was a chance that we would have seen one band member compete, too. Liam Payne picked up boxing at an early age to protect himself from bullies. That was not where his athletic career ended, though. He joined his school’s cross-country running team, and before he competed on “The X Factor,” Payne was on the reserve list for the 2012 London Olympics. “If I wasn’t in 1D, running in the Olympics would of been my dream :)” he said.
